HATE ROCKS!!! Seriously. We've been working for days trying to get our yard in. We've hired someone to level our yard with a tractor, we've hired someone to level our yard with a bobcat. Bob rented a bobcat with a rock raking attachment....and STILL, we've been raking and raking....and raking. Then we ordered in some top soil to cover the rocks we couldn't get up. 250 yards of topsoil! Had the bobcat guy come back to smooth out the dirt, then we raked and raked some more. We are on a deadline here! No hydro seed delivered after the first week of October! Finally, on Thursday we felt like we couldn't make the yard look much better.....we were happy. THEN, Saturday we hired a guy to come and dig trenches for our sprinkler system (we NEVER had to have a sprinkler system in Washington!). Little did we know his trenches would be two feet deep! And, it seems, two feet wide (I am exaggerating a little, but not much)! Now that beautiful, smooth and pretty flat yard is full of rocks AGAIN! The seed is scheduled to come on Thursday....wish us luck. We've got our work cut out for us! Luckily we've got awesome family to help us out. Without them, we'd never, EVER, get this done!
FREE ROCKS...come get 'um!
We've just got to keep positive! Hopefully, after Thursday this will all become a distant memory! Good things are happening. Our stone work is almost finished, the electrical is done...we've got air conditioning, oh and heat too! Carpet will come sometime this week...at least our carpet guy says so...AND we've found out from the city that they will issue us a "temporary occupancy" permit! That means as soon as this yard is in, Bob can start on our cabinets! Maybe four weeks from now we'll be moving in!
