MR TOADS WILD RIDE
After having a FABULOUS time in Rexburg with Robyn, Tim and their families I got dropped off at the Idaho Falls airport last night to come home to my "lonely" husband. It was kind of a windy day in Rexburg and I made the comment to Robyn and D, "hope my plane ride isn't too bumpy tonight because of the weather"! Flights from Idaho Falls to Seattle on one of those little "prop" planes never make me feel too comfortable. They're so little! So, I boarded the plane and as we took off the plane started bumping around a little and was making these clanking, sputtering kind of noises...it sounded like the propellers were going to fall off or something...people were looking around at each other asking "what the heck is that noise!" I kept looking at the Flight Attendant to see if she seemed alarmed but she looked like everything was okay. I wonder if they learn how to look "non concerned" in Flight Attendant school? Finally it quieted down, but I was still feeling a little unsettled from the noise and the bumps that had gone on before. It was pretty unnerving! I was VERY thankful to land in Boise, safe and sound, READY to change planes. We were preparing to board for Seattle when the "gate lady" (I don't know what you call those people who take your tickets) came on the loud speaker and announced, "the Captain has just asked me to let everyone know that the skies are very turbulent tonight. The ride to Seattle is going to be VERY ROUGH!" So rough, that if you want to stay over and take a flight in the morning we'd be happy to accommodate you at no extra charge! I called Bob to tell him what was going on, thinking maybe he'd tell me to go ahead and stay the night in Boise. Instead he said, "I'm sorry you have to get on the plane, but I'll pray for you!" So, I was still shaking from the nerve wracking flight from IF, now I was boarding a plane that the Captain was telling people ahead of time that we might drop out of the sky...so, hold on tight! As I walked up the stairs of the plane I felt like I was walking to my death. I told Bob that if I never saw him again I wanted him to know that I loved him! I sat down in my seat and the instructions began....we WILL be checking to make sure your seat belts are fastened, check to make sure your "MOTION SICKNESS" bags are in the pocket in front of you, hopefully nothing will FALL out of the overhead bins onto your head, SORRY we won't be offering any beverage service on this flight...on and on they went! Finally, the announcement was made, "Okay folks, we are ready for take off....sit back, hope you enjoy the flight... and get ready for MISTER TOADS WILD RIDE!" Everyone laughed. Until we took off. True to their word, we never stopped bouncing. I'm not sure I've ever been so scared in my life. The only bright side was the 400 pound man sitting in the seat next to me. He kept me pretty well pinned down through the whole ordeal! I'm not sure when the next time will be that I get on one of those planes again! Probably as soon as I need another grandkid fix.

Glad you made it home safe.
I HATE turbulance. I actually fell out of the sky on one of my flights from SLC to JAX during the college years. We dropped 12000 ft. popped up, dropped again, popped up, then we were fine. The stewardess just asked me for my beverage selection and the beverage cart was in the air, the stewardesses legs were in the air and when she landed she busted her chin and broke the arm of the seat in from of me. CRAZY SCARY! I fly because it's quick, but I HATE turbulance!
your writing is wonderful. I felt like I was right there with you. Great story! I am glad bob has you back home. He did seem to be missing something without you.
glad you made it back safe.
