Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

I saw a fake tree at Walmart the other day for $20.00. Lights on it and everything. I mentioned it to the family that I thought maybe we should buy it. They looked at me like I'd gone mad. They simultaneously said, "NO!" So, Saturday was Christmas Tree harvesting day. We met the kids at the Red Barn tree farm in Orting. It was early and it was cold. I don't like early and I don't like cold! Bob and I KIND of broke from tradition this year. WE didn't actually cut our tree down. SOMEONE else cut it down ( a couple of days ago), but it WAS from the tree farm. I guess that means it still KIND of counts. Anyways we're too old to bend and saw. Plus, remember it was really early and really cold. We don't bend too well when it's early and cold either. Besides, the ALREADY harvested trees were cheaper than the one's you had to cut yourself. We were feeling cheap. Turns out, it's a really pretty tree. No pictures though so, you'll just have to take my word for it. I'm pretty happy with it! It smells much better than fake.

Hank and Max waiting for the Choo Choo at the tree farm. Pretty much the most exciting thing ever! They'll talk about riding the train at the tree farm now, until they do it again next year!

I'll get out of bed early and face the cold any day when I have this waiting for me!

Aaron keeping the tradition alive!

Saturday night was our Ward Christmas Party. The Bishopric was asked to dress up as Wisemen. I was just going to throw a bathrobe on Bob, put a towel on his head and call it good. Then, Wednesday night at mutual Brother Wilden told me Melanie had gone out, bought a pattern and was MAKING him a costume! Melanie said, Brother Hedding was going to have a FABULOUS costume too, because Sister Hedding was such an awesome seamstress! I haven't sewed anything in... forever ( When I showed Bob the last dress I made, and, he asked me if it was a tablecloth, I put my machine in the closet and haven't used it since)! After hearing about Brother Wilden and Brother Hedding and THEIR costumes I knew that Bob could no longer go in a bathrobe and towel. So, off to Walmart we went ( I knew Bob was worried too, because he actually went with me to buy the material). We found a pattern that said "it would only take two hours" to make. I thought, piece of cake, I can do that! We found some Wiseman looking material for $2.50 a yard, dug some buttons out of my button jar, dusted off my sewing machine and I went to work. Well, it took more like 2 times 6 hours to make, my sewing machine worked like an antique and I hate Wiseman looking material! We got'r done though! Turned out okay too! If anyone ever needs a Wiseman costume, or a 2 hour pattern...we've got it! We'll share!

So cute. And the little wiseman or shepherd is cute too. The first time Joshua was a wiseman, we worried so much about his outfit. I remember that he wore his Star Wars belt (1983, we're talking about). Merry Christmas you guys! We cruise again in a month, after baby, mission, holidays and wedding are all successfully launched. Your cruising example awoke the beast within us - to get away!
