Memory Lane

I was thinking about a lesson I heard a couple of weeks ago at church. The teacher was describing our lives. Our premortal life, our lives here on earth and our lives for the rest of eternity. She drew a long line representing our premortal life, a dot representing our life here on earth and another really long line representing the rest of eternity. The dot seemed so small in comparison to the long lines. Yet, we talked about all that we needed to accomplish during the time we'd "spend on the dot!" I've seen this lesson taught before. Today though, I've been thinking of it in a different way. For the past 33 years I've been so blessed to spend my time on the dot with the most wonderful person in the world. I've been thinking about all that has happened since that day in June of 1975 when we were sealed together for eternity. We delighted together as five wonderful children came into our lives. Four handsome sons and a beautiful daughter. Oh the joy they brought into our lives! We treasure the memories we have of each one. They grew up much to fast, we miss them so much, but we've watched them all grow up and become wonderful, good people, whom we are so proud of. How blessed we feel as parents that they've each chosen to follow Heavenly Father's plan and marry in the Temple. Each has a wonderful spouse whom we love very much. Grandchildren have come into our lives! What fun that has been! There is nothing sweeter. Together on the dot, we've also shared many sorrows and disappointments. How could we have ever survived them had we not had each other? There is so much comfort in an embrace with someone whom you love so completely. Heavenly Father has always been there for us, blessing us every step of the way. We've accomplished so much together! We built two homes, with five little kids underfoot! But we did it! Not only did we do it and stay together, we did it and have many happy memories! So many memories...someday we'll have to sit together and write them all down. For today though, on this anniversary day, I want you to know how deeply and profoundly thankful I am for you. My sweet husband, to spend my time on the dot with you is more than I could have ever hoped for. As it says above our bed, "As we grow old together, as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change, I will always keep falling in love with you." Happy Anniversary, Susie.
